These terms are an agreement between you and Lucernel LLC (30 N Gould St, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA), which makes Musael. By creating an account or using Musael you accept them. If you use Musael for an organisation, you accept them for it too.
Your account
You must be at least 16. Use a real email address, keep your password and backup codes safe, and tell us at support@musael.com if you think someone else is using your account. An account is for one person; people work together by sharing projects and workspaces.
Your writing belongs to you
You keep every right to what you write and upload. You give us only the permission we need to run Musael for you: to store your projects, sync them to your devices, show them to the people you share them with, and publish the pages you choose to make public. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies others legitimately made while it was shared or public, and for backups until they expire.
We don't use your writing to train AI models, and we don't allow our providers to.
Public stories and the community
When you publish a story, write a comment or a review, or fill in your public profile, anyone can read it, and you are responsible for it. Do not publish:
- work you don't have the rights to;
- sexual content involving minors, real instructions to hurt people, or content that attacks people for who they are;
- harassment, threats or someone else's personal information;
- spam, advertising, or links placed to game search engines;
- anything illegal where you or your readers are.
Links in public content are marked so search engines don't follow them. We check public content automatically and review what readers report. A confirmed violation counts as a strike. One strike in 30 days pauses your comments, reviews and likes (or publishing, for stories and profiles) for 24 hours, a second for 7 days, and a third suspends the account until we review it. Certain spam, and content no site can host, can lead to immediate suspension. To contest a decision, write to support@musael.com.
Fair use of the service
Don't try to break or overload Musael, get around its limits or plan rules, reach other people's data, scrape or resell the service, or use it to build a competing product. Automated access is welcome only through the connections we offer, such as the connector for AI assistants.
Plans, trial and payments
- Trial. A new account can try Ink for 7 days without a card. AI and connected apps are not part of the trial.
- Subscriptions. Quill, Ink and Press are paid monthly or yearly in advance and renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in Settings; your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Who sells. Payments are processed by Link, Stripe's checkout service, which sells you the subscription as seller of record and handles taxes, receipts and payment questions. Link's own terms apply to the payment.
- Taxes and prices. Checkout shows the price with the taxes of your country. If we change the price of your plan, we tell you before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it applies.
- Refunds. Refunds follow Link's policy and the law of your country. If something went wrong with a payment, write to support@musael.com and we will look into it.
- When a plan ends. Your projects stay readable and exportable. Writing, syncing, sharing and publishing wait until you have a plan again.
- Changing plans. Some features come with Ink and Press only, such as a series of books, maps, the submission tracker, your own cover images and your author page design. Moving to a plan without one never removes what you made with it: it stays readable, editable and exportable, and only starting something new with that feature waits for a plan that includes it.
- AI credits. Ink and Press include monthly credits. Unused plan credits last 3 months on Ink and 12 months on Press. Credits bought once, from 1,000 to 100,000 at a time, last 12 months from purchase and work only with Ink or Press. Credits have no cash value and can't be transferred. Every AI task shows its price before it starts, and a task that fails gives its credits back.
AI features
AI tasks give suggestions and analysis, and they can be wrong. You decide what to keep and you are responsible for what you publish. How AI works in Musael is explained in the AI Policy.
Availability and changes
Musael is in active development: features change, and some are marked as previews. We work to keep it available and your data safe, with daily backups, but we can't promise it will never be interrupted, so keep your own exports of work that matters. If we ever close Musael, we will tell you at least 30 days before, so you can export your work.
Ending the agreement
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; we will tell you why, unless the law or someone's safety prevents it.
Liability
Musael is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, Lucernel is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and its total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits rights that consumer law gives you and that can't be waived, or liability for fraud or gross negligence.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring a claim there.
Changes to these terms
We will tell you by email or in the app before a change that matters applies. If you don't agree, you can cancel and export your work before it does.
