Writing workspace or book-formatting workspace?
Choose Musael when the difficult work is planning, revising and keeping the story coherent. Choose Atticus when you need a dedicated writing-and-formatting workflow for the book you will publish. Atticus's emphasis on finished book files is relevant, especially for an author managing a paperback and ebook release.

What happens before typesetting
Suppose a novel has a convincing ending but the protagonist's change feels unearned. Formatting that manuscript beautifully will not fix the missing turning point. You need to read the protagonist's scenes, compare their decisions and identify the passage that should establish the change.

Musael's Plan → Revision collects saved scenes filtered by POV and plotline. Scene tasks stay beside the project, and opening a scene returns you to its actual manuscript. World records distinguish facts, beliefs and source passages; the explicit impact view helps locate linked records when a detail changes.
Atticus describes drafting and importing existing work alongside formatting. That makes it more than a file converter. Its public homepage does not establish the same source-backed World and knowledge-check workflow, so that narrowly defined capability remains unconfirmed here.
The finished file is a separate decision
Atticus advertises ebook and print formatting, with tools for building a book's presentation. Inspect sample output for your actual genre: ornamental chapter openings, illustrations, footnotes and print trim choices can change the decision substantially.
Musael exports Word, EPUB and HTML, with browser print/PDF workflows and presentation presets. Those are useful delivery options, but they are not a guarantee of feature-for-feature equivalence to a dedicated typesetting product. A browser-generated PDF should be checked against the printer's requirements rather than automatically called print-ready.
You can therefore use Musael to develop and revise the authoritative manuscript, then use a specialized formatter for a final publishing requirement. If Atticus already gives you every revision tool you need, moving the draft is unnecessary. If the manuscript keeps drifting from its notes, Musael addresses an earlier and different problem.
Offline work, review and cost
Atticus's official site says it works online and offline. Offline capability must be compared after each product's setup, not inferred from whether it has an account. Musael keeps durable local writing and resumes supported sync; a saved local draft, a server acknowledgement and a recoverable backup remain different states.
The Atticus page displayed a $147 purchase price during this check. Confirm currency, taxes, refund terms, account/device conditions and current offers at purchase. Do not equate that displayed price with every writer's final checkout total. Musael's subscription and usage terms are on pricing.
For ongoing collaboration, World tracking and reader links, evaluate Musael as the writing workspace. For final layout, compare exported pages rather than feature counts. Keeping a clean handoff between these stages can be more practical than demanding one tool do every job.
Transfer without losing the master copy
Keep the original Atticus project and a supported manuscript export. Bring the prose into Musael through the existing import preview, then check chapter order, emphasis, scene breaks and any special content. Do not assume the import reconstructs Atticus's formatting theme, publishing metadata or layout settings.
Export a representative chapter back out of Musael before moving the whole book. If the project contains complex formatting, treat that round trip as a compatibility test. Preserve the master text and final publishing files separately so a later editorial revision does not accidentally replace a checked print edition.

No. Musael has manuscript export and presentation workflows, while Atticus specializes in writing and book formatting. Compare the actual files and your distributor's specifications.
