Getting started

Bring your work from another app

Obsidian, Notion, Scrivener, World Anvil and Campfire: what each one becomes in Musael.

Steps

  1. 01

    Obsidian or Notion

In Project actions (the … menu at the top), under Import, choose Markdown, Scrivener or World Anvil… and pick the vault folder, or choose Project or manuscript file… for a Notion export .zip. Folders such as Characters, Places or Research become World entries and notes, and you can change what each folder becomes before importing.

  2. 02

    Scrivener

Pick the .scriv folder, or a .zip of it on a Mac. The Draft becomes acts, chapters and scenes with their synopsis, status and keywords.

  3. 03

    World Anvil

In World Anvil open World Settings and choose Export World (part of the Guild membership), then import the .zip it gives you with Project or manuscript file…. Articles become World entries with their relationships; prose, plots and reports become notes. Pictures stay on World Anvil.

  4. 04

    Campfire

Campfire exports its documents as DOCX. Export the manuscript or an element, then choose Project or manuscript file… and pick the file.

Your original stays as it was

An import reads the files on this device and creates a new project. The folder or file you chose is not changed, and nothing is uploaded until the new project syncs to your account.

Before anything is created, a preview shows the chapters, scenes, World entries and notes that will come in, and what stays out.
