# Start your first project

From a new account to the first scene in a few minutes.

## Steps

1. **Create your account** Choose Start Writing Free and sign up with your email, or with Google, Apple or GitHub where they are offered.
2. **Confirm your email** Open the link we send you. The workspace opens once the address is confirmed.
3. **Open your project** Your first project is ready with a scene. Start typing: the text is saved on this device as you write.
4. **Add another project** Open the project menu at the top left and choose New project.

## What happens to what you write

Everything is saved on this device first, then synced to your account when you are online. See Writing offline and syncing for the details.
