# Cover designer guide

Create a KDP paperback cover with your own images. Paid workspace projects include premium styles; image generation, when enabled, requires credits.

## 1. Book

Choose one of 16 KDP paperback trim sizes, the printed page count and paper. Spine text requires at least 80 pages and appears only when it fits at a readable size.

## 2. Style

The free browser tool supports your own uploaded images only; it has no style catalog or image generation. Paid workspace projects offer 54 premium styles across nine categories and optional visual details. When enabled, image generation requires paid credits. Optional text in generated artwork is baked in and cannot be edited separately.

## 3. Picture

Upload separate images for the front, back and spine, or one full-wrap image. When workspace image generation is enabled, it uses a brief you review; the credit cost appears before confirmation.

## 4. Type

Edit the title, subtitle, author and back-cover copy as separate canvas text. Text included inside generated artwork is part of the image and cannot be edited separately.

## 5. Export

Download the full-wrap PDF, including front, back, spine and outer bleed. Optional separate front- and back-cover PDFs are at exact trim size with no bleed, for separate use. PDFs use RGB color; PDF/X conformance is not verified. Review the final files in KDP’s print preview before ordering.

## Privacy and print

In the free browser tool, uploads and drafts stay on this device. Premium workspace generation uses paid credits and sends only the brief you review, not your full manuscript.
